MOVIE POSTER

As the artist behind the poster for "Twilight of the Undead," my goal was to bring to life a visual narrative that would not only capture the attention of the audience but also convey the core essence of the movie. This commission came from a client who wanted to evoke a retro, action-packed aesthetic survivalist themes.

The Idea

The movie revolves around three characters who are humanity's last hope. The central theme is survival, strength, and unity in the face of chaos. I wanted the poster to portray these three heroes as rugged, determined fighters who are ready to send the hell that came to Earth back where it belongs. Each of them has their own distinct personality and weapon, and the color palette I used was intended to blend the warm, fiery tones of conflict with the cold.

The Process

The process began with a series of sketches to establish the layout. I envisioned the three main characters standing confidently, each holding their weapons of choice in a dramatic pose against a dusk-lit sky. The warm, orange glow of the sunset serves as a background that symbolizes the end of the world, with the eerie blue tones creating a contrast that evokes the supernatural threat they are fighting. The title of the movie, "Twilight of the Undead," was designed to be bold and impactful, splattered with blood to signify the brutal battles ahead.

For the characters themselves, I focused on their expressions and posture. I wanted their resolve to shine through in the way they stand and hold their weapons. Their outfits and safety gear were carefully chosen to convey a sense of practicality, with camouflage, rugged jackets, and tools that clearly show they are ready for the task at hand. I used a combination of digital painting techniques to give the poster a classic, painterly look, reminiscent of 80s action and horror films.

   The
Challenges
      Faced

It was important to give a sense of danger and urgency without overwhelming the viewer with too many graphic details. I wanted the undead element to be subtle, lurking in the background rather than being front and center. The viewer’s attention should be on the heroes, who represent hope. I wanted to ensure that the lighting and atmosphere matched the characters and the overall tone of the film.

Key

Points

The primary focus of the poster is the trio of protagonists. They are strong, resilient, and ready to fight. The sunset and dark clouds symbolize the looming threat, but their stance shows that they are unyielding. The combination of muted natural colors with the vibrant, bloody red of the title helps to establish the film’s genre and mood instantly.
